PM Modi holds talks with Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with Qatar's Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Saturday as the two leaders agreed to jointly celebrate the 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2023.
Modi also conveyed his best wishes for a successful football World Cup in Qatar.
PM Modi took to his Twitter handle and said, “Was happy to speak with HH Amir @TamimBinHamad of Qatar”.
“Thanked him for his gracious Diwali greetings, and conveyed best wishes for a successful FIFA World Cup in Qatar.”
“We agreed to jointly celebrate 50 yrs of India-Qatar diplomatic relations in 2023,” PM Modi added.
The 29-day football tournament will be the first large-scale international athletic event with a large audience since the Covid outbreak began in December 2019.
The year 2022 marks the completion of glorious 50 years of diplomatic ties between India and Qatar. The relationship is stronger than ever before and has deepened and strengthened over the years. Although the ties began in the form of diplomatic and political engagements they slowly expanded in the realm of socio-economic aspects of its relations. India has one of the largest diasporas in Qatar and it plays an important role in the country’s development and growth. Qatar has invested heavily in India looking at a promising future in the years to come. The gas trade between the two is pivotal to its energy ties.
