PM Modi holds talks Kenyan President William Ruto; offers $250 million LoC for modernising agriculture

Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a meeting with Kenyan President William Ruto at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The purpose of their meeting was to discuss and explore avenues for further strengthening the partnership between India and Kenya.
The discussions aimed to enhance diplomatic ties and foster mutual understanding between the two nations, reflecting a commitment to deepening the strategic relationship for the benefit of both India and Kenya.
Taking to X, Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated, “Reinvigorating – ties! PM @narendramodi welcomed President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya as the latter arrived for bilateral talks in Hyderabad House. Wide-ranging discussions on deepening India-Kenya partnership lie ahead.”
During his state visit to India, Kenyan President William Ruto paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial located at Rajghat in New Delhi. Taking to X, the Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson stated, “Paying homage to Mahatma. President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya laid a wreath at Rajghat and paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi.”
Kenyan President William Ruto received a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan during his state visit to India. He inspected a Guard of Honour, and the reception was attended by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who welcomed President Ruto at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In a post shared on X, Arindam Bagchi stated, “A grand welcome for our honoured guest! President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya warmly received by President Droupadi Murmu @Rashtrapatibhvn and PM @narendramodi in a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
Kenyan President William Ruto's state visit to India, starting on Monday, at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu, marks the first Presidential visit from Kenya to India in over six years. The visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, includes a state banquet hosted by President Murmu and participation in a business and investment event in New Delhi.
PM Modi has announced $250 million Line of Credit for modernisation of agriculture. Both sides have agreed to enhance counter terrorism cooperation and pledged to explore new opportunities to realise full potential of India-Kenya economic cooperation
During the visit, President Ruto, accompanied by a high-level delegation, met with Indian Union Ministers, including S Jaishankar and Sarbananda Sonowal. Ruto praised India's digital progress and highlighted the nations' diplomatic engagement since 1948.
Speaking to reporters, Ruto said, “As you are aware, India and Kenya are great friends. We’ve been we’ve had diplomatic engagement at different levels from way back in 1948, even before the independence of Kenya. And I have come to India this time around at the invitation of Madam President and my good friend the Prime Minister. And my expectation is that we need to consolidate the relationship between Kenya and India.”
Kenyan President William Ruto expressed interest in partnerships with India in agriculture, vaccine manufacturing, genomics, and the digital space. He highlighted plans to sign agreements in digital ID and government services, noting Kenya's Ministry of ICT had already sought lessons in these areas from India. Ruto emphasized collaboration in business and acknowledged common ground with PM Modi on global issues and financial reforms. He thanked India's leaders for the warm welcome.
