PM Modi concludes UP visit, announces 29 projects worth Rs 12,100 crore for Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his visit to Uttar Pradesh, as per reports. During his stay in the state, he engaged in multiple programs and addressed public rallies in Gorakhpur and Varanasi. The prime minister spent the night in Varanasi, which holds significance as his parliamentary constituency. Prior to his visit to Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi had traveled to Chhattisgarh, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for eight projects worth around Rs 7,600 crore.
After completing his engagements in Chhattisgarh, PM Modi arrived in Uttar Pradesh, where he embarked on a packed schedule that included public addresses and interactions. The prime minister's visit to Gorakhpur and Varanasi witnessed enthusiastic participation from supporters and residents alike. Following his overnight stay in Varanasi, PM Modi departed for Telangana, marking the conclusion of his visit to Uttar Pradesh.
Modi said in a tweet, "Leaving for Warangal (Telangana) to attend a programme where we will inaugurate or lay the foundation stone for development works worth over Rs 6,100 crore. These works cover different sectors ranging from highways to railways. They will benefit the people of Telangana." From Telangana, the prime minister will travel to Rajasthan where he will address a rally in Naurangdesar in Bikaner district.
As per the BJP unit in the state, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stones and inaugurate projects valued at over Rs 2,500 crore during the upcoming program. Speaking at a public rally in Varanasi, PM Modi criticized the previous administrations, stating that the recipients of welfare schemes today serve as models of social justice and "real secularism." He further highlighted that the previous regimes formulated their schemes while "sitting in air-conditioned rooms."
During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of the welfare schemes and their impact on the lives of beneficiaries. He praised the current initiatives as genuine efforts toward achieving social justice, highlighting the real-life implications of these programs. By criticizing the previous administrations, PM Modi aimed to emphasize the distinction between mere policy-making and the practical implementation of welfare measures.
Prime Minister Modi criticized the earlier schemes for favoring a select few and lacking grassroots feedback. He emphasized the need for inclusivity and consultation in policy-making."Ensuring self-respect for the poor is a Modi guarantee," the prime minister had added.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi attended the closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations of Gita Press in Gorakhpur, the world's largest publisher of Hindu religious textbooks. He also inaugurated two new Vande Bharat trains at Gorakhpur station. In Varanasi, the focus shifted to welfare schemes, with the unveiling of 29 new projects worth Rs 12,100 crore.
Additionally, PM Modi held a "tiffin meeting" with BJP workers and leaders in Varanasi as part of the party's extensive public outreach campaign in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and around 120 party members, involved discussions about continuous engagement with the public and the well-being of party workers. While BJP attendees brought their own tiffins, the prime minister's meal was prepared in the kitchen of Bareka Guest House.
