Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after she presented the Union Budget 2025-26 in Parliament, saying, "Everybody is praising you, the Budget is very good." This shows his appreciation for her efforts in creating a well-received budget.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally thanked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the Union Budget 2025-26, which marks her eighth budget and the first for the Modi 3.0 government. He walked over to her seat in Parliament to express his gratitude.
While presenting the Budget for the current fiscal year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasised that the primary focus would be driving economic growth and increasing the financial well-being of the middle class, farmers, women, and young people.
She highlighted that the Budget is centred around reforms in six crucial areas: taxation, power, urban development, mining, the financial sector and regulatory policies.
Providing significant relief to the middle class, Sitharaman announced that under the new tax regime, individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh would not have to pay income tax.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Budget as "for the common man", stating that it prioritises the welfare of farmers, women, and the youth of the country.
"This is the budget of 'GYAN' (garib, yuva, annadaata, nari)," he stated when addressing a Cabinet meeting.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman echoed Prime Minister Modi's sentiment during the Budget presentation, emphasising that the government's top priority will be uplifting the most vulnerable members of society, including people with low incomes, youth, farmers, and women.
"The focus of the Budget is taking everyone together on an inclusive path. We embark on a journey to unlock our country's immense potential. Our economy is the fastest growing among all the major economies. Confidence in India's potential has only grown," she highlighted.
