People talking about #MeToo must ask some tough questions to the IPS officers who allegedly tortured Sadhvi Pragya

India's Constitution ensures that every citizen has equal rights and guarantees justice for all. However, not just the UPA/NDA governments, but even the courts and Me Too warriors have failed to take suo-motu cognizance regarding Sadhvi Pragya’s torture by the ATS men.
The Me Too movement has exposed several sexual predators and monsters who tried to outrage a woman's modesty whenever they got the opportunity to do so. No doubt, every Me Too warrior deserves the credit for the movement's success. However, it's sad to see that almost all of these warriors have failed to raise their voice against male monsters in uniform. They hung Sadhvi Pragya Singh upside down and kept on beating her until she lost her consciousness for 24 days. She faced the most brutal ‘Chinese torture’ while in the illegal detention. They even forced her to watch porn clips.
“Male policemen should not even ‘touch’ a female accused”
During her recent interaction with Rajat Sharma, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur has clearly stated that the ATS targeted her because they thought a woman won't be able to bear the torture much longer, and would immediately give the confession that the MP-based Congress leader Digvijaya Singh desperately wanted for proving his Hindu Terror Theory.
Sadhvi has named Param Bir Singh (current ADGP-Maharashtra), Hemant Karkare, and Suvarna Shinde as officials who kept on mercilessly beating her with their belt till she fainted during the illegal detention. To support her claims, fortunately, a former ATS man Mehboob Mujawar has presented evidence to prove how Maharashtra ATS officers tortured and even murdered RSS activists-Sandeep Dange and Ramji Kalsangre during interrogation. The ex-official handed over the evidence to Solapur chief judicial magistrate’s court last year and recorded his statement with the NIA.
“If politicians like M J Akbar are held accountable, then why not the IPS lobby?”
Not just activists, journalists, politicians, but even the Ministry of Women and Child Development under both regimes ignored Sadhvi’s plea for justice. Besides, this, the Me Too warriors have also not raised their voice against the men and women in uniform who beat up and murdered Manjula Shetye inside the jail by inserting lathi in her private parts in June 2017. Additional DG (Prisons) Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay and his female colleague DIG Swati Sathe who allegedly according to this report tried to convert the murder into a natural death case are still in service, in fact, recently got promoted. The officers remain temporarily suspended.
Actor Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna proudly announced that they had forced director Sajid Khan and actor Nana Patekar to exit Houseful 4 due to the allegations against them. Sajid and Nana were hired and paid by the film's producers, not by the public. But, the IPS officers named in Sadhvi Pragya and late Manjula Shetye's murder are paid every month from taxpayers' money. Not just the income tax, but the GST that every Indian pays on some item or the other goes towards paying salaries of government servants. Now, as taxpayers, would Akshay, Twinkle, journalists, and other Me Too warriors insist on getting resignations from the public servants as well? If politicians, film-stars, journalists, authors, are held accountable, then why not the IPS lobby?
“Constitution ensures justice for every Indian”
The SC suggests it does not wish to interfere in the Malegaon accused torture probe as the NIA has not completed its investigation into Malegaon Blasts case. But, the same highest court had no issues in entertaining the petitions and interfering in the Koregaon Bhima accused arrests matter in spite of Pune police’s ongoing investigation.
Late Manjula Shetye was Indian, and so is Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. Doesn't the constitution guarantee equal rights and justice for every Indian? Shouldn’t our honorable courts worry about safeguarding every person’s human rights and deliver justice to all?
Sadhvi was arrested without a shred of evidence; her liberty was jeopardized. But even now, the elite human rights defenders have not bothered to seek justice for her. The NIA has already clarified that there is no evidence against her.
“Unique pleasantness and smile on her face”
Today, the guilty police officials are sitting on lucrative posts, while the named Congress leader is enjoying his married life with his second wife. On the other hand, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has turned into a cancer patient who uses a wheelchair and requires constant assistance due to the police torture that she went through. In spite of going through the hell and spending several years in jail, she has unique pleasantness and smile on her face.
Statements and evidence has made it clear that Param Bir Singh illegally detained Sadhvi with other officials and allegedly brutally tortured her in the worst possible way. How can this individual be allowed to continue holding the Maharashtra state’s Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) office?
The NIA seems to have lost the track and slowed down. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Personnel and Training must look into the matter. The allegations made by all the tortured persons and evidence submitted by ex ATS Officer Mehboob Mujawar indicate the involvement of a sitting ADGP level official along with multiple police officials from Maharashtra.
The IPS lobby has formed their association in the country. Case studies clearly show how they are openly backing each other. Thus, the center should consider constituting a SIT with retired judges, and officers with an impeccable record to further investigate the matter.
