PayNearby has unveiled a new platform called Digital Naari, to foster sustainable self-employment for women, the company announced in a statement. The initiative is geared towards offering women in rural and semi-urban areas additional opportunities for income generation, according to the statement.
The platform empowers 'banker didis' to deliver a wide array of financial and digital services to the public. These individuals will have the flexibility to provide services according to their preferred time, location, and product preferences.
Anand Kumar Bajaj, founder, MD & CEO of PayNearby, stated that the company's partnerships with various livelihood missions, such as Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad, and Grameen Foundation India, are empowering numerous women towards economic independence and societal recognition through the Digital Naari app.
The services cater to the needs of rural women, offering cash withdrawal, bank account opening, money transfer, recharge, insurance and asset assurance, credit, and e-commerce support. This facilitates their journey towards financial literacy and independence.
The platform, in alignment with the government's ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, aims to onboard and uplift 100,000 women by the end of 2025, thereby facilitating their economic empowerment, according to the statement.
The objective is to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to women business owners, single women, and those facing literacy challenges, thereby improving their financial well-being and promoting self-reliance.
PayNearby's network comprises over 10,000 women who collectively oversee transactions totaling more than Rs 1,000 crore annually. The new platform intends to expand its network by forming partnerships with organizations, self-help groups, and individuals committed to advancing sustainable livelihoods among rural women.
Bajaj extended an open invitation to like-minded institutions and self-help groups to collaborate in maximizing the initiative's reach and empowering women.
