Pakistani security forces killed 11 terrorists in three different operations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which is known for unrest.
The operations took place on December 17 and 18, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The first operation happened in the Tank district after the authorities received information about militants being present in the area. The action resulted in the deaths of seven terrorists.
Two terrorists were killed in the second operation, which was conducted in the North Waziristan district's Datta Khel. In the Mohmand district, two other terrorists were slain. The weapons and ammunition also belonged to the militants who were killed. According to a research released by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), there was a 90 per cent increase in both counter-terrorism campaigns and terrorist violence-related deaths in Pakistan during the third quarter (July-September) of 2024.
During the period under review, 722 people were killed, including civilians, security personnel and outlaws, while 615 others were injured in 328 incidents. Nearly 97% of these deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the highest percentage in a decade. Over 92% of the terror attacks and security operations also took place in these two provinces.
