Pakistan conducts Abdali missile test amid rising tensions over Pahalgam attack

Pakistan announced on Saturday that it successfully tested the Abdali Weapon System, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 km. This test took place amid rising tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to the Pakistan Army's statement, the purpose of the launch was to evaluate the missile’s operational readiness and check its key technical features, including its advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability. The test was conducted as part of "Exercise INDUS," although no additional details about the exercise were shared.
"The launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile’s advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability features," Pak army said in a statement. The training launch was attended by the Commander of the Army Strategic Forces Command, senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division and the Army Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organisations.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the heads of the armed forces congratulated all the personnel, scientists, and engineers who took part in the successful test. They said they fully trust Pakistan’s Strategic Forces to be capable and skilled enough to protect the country and maintain a strong, reliable defence against any threat.
