In a significant escalation, Pakistan carried out a coordinated strike on the night of May 7 and 8, targeting 15 Indian cities across Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir. The cities hit included Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj. The attack used drones and missiles, focusing on Indian military facilities in the northern and western regions.
India's advanced Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems effectively blocked and cancelled incoming dangers. Debris from these aerial platforms is being recovered from various impact sites, offering clear evidence of Pakistan's intentional targeting of Indian cities. As reported by ANI, the Indian Air Force deployed S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence missile systems last night to strike at incoming targets. The operation successfully counteracted the threats, though official assurance from the government is still awaited.
This attack comes after India’s "measured and non-escalatory" approach during Operation Sindoor on May 7. It was made clear that India had not targeted any Pakistani military or civilian sites, focusing solely on terror infrastructure. India also issued a clear warning that any attack on its military would result in a suitable response. In response to Pakistan's attempt to target a broad area, India's armed forces carried out precise strikes this morning on Pakistani air defence radars and systems. It has been assured that the air defence system in Lahore has been neutralised. India's retaliation matched the scale and intensity of Pakistan's offensive actions.
Pakistan has escalated its unprovoked artillery and mortar shelling along the Line of Control, particularly in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of sixteen Indian civilians, including three women and five children. In retaliation, India was forced to respond to stop the Pakistani fire and safeguard civilian lives, according to a government statement.
