The Indian Army successfully stopped an ambush by Pakistani infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) and killed seven of them, including 2-3 Pakistani Army personnel, on the night of February 4-5, according to sources. The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in Jammu & Kashmir. It coincided with Pakistan’s observance of 'Kashmir Solidarity Day,' an event often used to promote its anti-India agenda.
Sources revealed that the Indian Army ambushed Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) while it was attempting to attack a forward post. BAT is a specialised unit that carries out cross-border operations. In the operation, seven individuals were killed, including 2-3 Pakistani army soldiers. The remaining were believed to be terrorists from the Al-Badr group. This comes after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated earlier this week that he wants to use dialogue to settle all of its differences with India, including Kashmir.
Curiously, the new overture coincided with a summit in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) by terrorist leaders of groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), revealing the hypocrisy of the terrorist nation. India has consistently stated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are, and will always remain, an integral part of the country. It has also emphasised that better relations with Pakistan can only happen in an atmosphere without terrorism and violence.
Diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries have worsened since the Narendra Modi-led government removed Article 370 in 2019, which took away Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Recently, terror attacks have risen in different districts of the Jammu region, resulting in the deaths of 44 people, including 18 security personnel.
