Oman offers its world-class ports and industrial hubs to Indian manufacturers as a premier launchpad. The Sultanate aims to strengthen commercial linkages and unlock access across the Middle East and global trade corridors. A high-profile roadshow recently pitched lucrative investment prospects and the advantages of expanding bilateral trade networks.
Ambassador of Oman to India Issa Saleh Abdullah Alshibani stated that the Embassy consistently brings Omani delegations to India. These efforts showcase the nation's rapidly upgrading commercial setup. He emphasised the core role of key facilities during his address to business leaders.
"Sohar and most of the ports of Oman are now becoming a great gateway for so much of Indian manufacturing expansion towards Oman, the Middle East and also the wider region," Alshibani said.
Organisers hosted the roadshow in New Delhi to invite Indian enterprises into Omani free zones. The event aimed to showcase competitive maritime advantages to Indian exporters.
Hitender Mehta, Co-Chairman, National Council on SEZs and Industrial Zones, ASSOCHAM, praised the initiative. He linked its relevance directly to the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), active since June 1, 2026.
"This roadshow is very timely and very useful. It gives the Indian investors an opportunity to understand Omani businesses, special economic zones, free zones and the kind of infrastructure they have developed, the kind of marketplace they offer to the Indian businesses," Mehta said.
The two-day conference carried the theme "Your Gateway to International Markets". It convened top Indian corporate players, factory owners, and shipping professionals. Attendees evaluated strategic manufacturing plants, supply chains, and specialised freight distribution options anchored in Oman.
Targeted business-to-business meetings dominated the schedule. Delegates explored concrete joint ventures and expansion models for Indian enterprises using Omani territory.
Alshibani highlighted Oman's stable socio-political environment and its growing foreign capital investments.
"What we are trying to show through the event is that there is stability in Oman, there is growth in terms of Foreign Direct Investment. Oman is becoming a very attractive destination for investors, not only to the Omani market but also to the wider region," he said.
Presentations focused on SOHAR Port and Freezone's fully integrated industrial network. Officials highlighted lucrative sectors and modern transport infrastructure available to global businesses. The port complex boasts over USD 30 billion in attracted investments. It processes more than 72 million tonnes of cargo every year.
This conference builds on the previous virtual sessions conducted with ASSOCHAM. Delegates now concentrate on direct investments and long-term corporate alliances.
