Odisha set to build greenfield airport at Paradip, heliports across 14 districts

The Odisha government has decided to improve the state's aviation infrastructure by building a new Greenfield airport in Paradip, speeding up the development of the Shree Jagannath International Airport in Puri, and creating heliports in 14 districts.
These decisions were made during a meeting on Aviation and Network Construction Management, which was led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday.The meeting discussed speeding up the proposed Shree Jagannath International Airport (SJIA) project in Puri and upgrading Rourkela Airport. It was also decided to move forward with setting up a new Greenfield airport in Paradip, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
The meeting also focused on improving regional airports across the state—specifically those in Jeypore, Dand Bose, Rangeilunda, Gautama, Satibhata, Raisuan, Tushara, Jamadarpali, Malkangiri, Amarda Road and Utkela—to boost regional air connectivity. "The state government also discussed the construction of heliports in 15 districts and the development of Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre (BPAC) at the airstrip at Birashol in Dhenkanal. The works department, as the nodal agency, has been given the responsibility of expediting these development works," it said.
Majhi instructed the officials to upgrade public airport facilities, improve flight connections, and make aviation services more efficient.
