Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Pravatai Parida, flagged off the Subhadra Yojana Awareness Rath on Saturday. The awareness chariot will travel across the state, promoting the Subhadra Yojana, a scheme aimed at empowering women throughout Odisha.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the awareness chariots will play a key role in educating the public about the Subhadra Yojana and guiding them on how to apply for the scheme. He highlighted that over 1 crore women across the state are expected to benefit from the initiative.
“It’s an opportunity to fulfil the dream of every woman. The scheme is also an identity of Odia Asmita (pride),” Majhi said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravatai Parida stated that the registration process for the Subhadra Yojana will remain open until every eligible beneficiary has submitted her application. “There is no deadline for submitting the Subhadra Yojana form. We will ensure that no beneficiary is left out and all eligible beneficiaries get the benefits of the scheme,” she said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravatai Parida acknowledged that some confusion is natural before the launch of any major program. She assured that the awareness chariot will help dispel any doubts and provide clarity to the public regarding the Subhadra Yojana. “The government will reach out to all beneficiaries. I assure that no one will be left out under the scheme,” she said.
Under the Subhadra Yojana, each woman beneficiary will receive Rs 10,000 annually for a period of five years. The first instalment of Rs 5,000 is scheduled to be disbursed on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birth anniversary. According to officials, the state government aims to enrol at least 1 crore women beneficiaries, fulfilling a key promise made by the BJP in its election manifesto.
