BJP-led states like Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have strictly enforced the Supreme Court's ruling on loudspeakers, which states that they are not essential for any religion or place of worship. Maharashtra has imposed stricter limits, capping noise levels below 55 decibels, while Uttar Pradesh is expected to regulate their use further.
On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the need for permanent noise control measures at religious sites. During a review of development projects and law enforcement at the Circuit House, he directed officials to prohibit high-volume DJs during Holi celebrations. Additionally, the CM ordered the installation of CCTV cameras in key areas, including banks, financial institutions and commercial establishments, to enhance security. He also called for strict action against cattle smuggling, warning that smugglers, vehicle owners, and any complicit police personnel would face severe consequences. ADG Zone Piyush Mordia was assigned to oversee district-level enforcement of the state's complete ban on cattle smuggling.
"Adityanath also focused on accelerating development projects, warning against delays and directing officials to appoint nodal officers for each under-construction project, conduct weekly inspections and submit progress reports. Upon observing delays in some projects, he ordered officials to speed up the work while ensuring quality," as per the statement.
As summer approached, he directed officials to guarantee an uninterrupted water supply. He also suggested enhancing flyover pillars with artistic paintings and high-quality advertisements. Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed officials to establish adequate vending zones in the city to support street hawkers. Adityanath further ordered officials to provide affordable meals, free drinking water and proper seating arrangements for farmers at all wheat procurement centres. According to the District Magistrate, wheat procurement at ₹2,425 per quintal will commence on March 17 across 36 centres in the district.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to set up hostels and affordable canteens for working women in the district. He also stressed the need for strict monitoring during 'Holika Dahan' and Holi celebrations. Additionally, he directed officials to identify the ten most notorious criminals from each police station.
