New Maoist boss Basavraj trained by LTTE executes the Sukma attack: Report

The use of sophisticated barrel grenade launchers and wireless interception by naxalites suggested that the movement of the security forces was tracked, One India reported. The question is if it is so, how are the naxalites able to obtain such sophisticated weapons?
The arms procurement for the naxalites has evolved over the past couple of years.
Intelligence bureau suggested that after 15 years of training their man in arms manufacturing, the first time they decided to procure sophisticated weapons from abroad through the LTTE based in Sri Lanka. The LTTE not only provided them arms, but also imparted training.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were a militant separatist group fighting for an independent homeland for Hindu Tamils in Northeastern Sri Lanka. The LTTE was founded in the early 1970s by Velupillai Prabhakaran, who led the group until his death by Sri Lankan armed forces in May 2009.
Before Taking help of LTTE, naxalites were trained by the Maoists in Nepal. Joint exercises were conducted by the naxals in India and Nepal. They used to make their own training units for manufacturing landmines, IEDs, homemade mortar rounds, according to multiple dossiers prepared by the Indian Intelligence agencies.
LTTE is not only supplied the arms, the group has trained Nambala Keshav Rao, alias Basavaraju, who is the new general secretary of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and has been part of the Naxalite movement since the 1970s and was also part of the Sukma attack.
One of the most elusive among India’s Maoist leaders, the 64-year-old carries an AK-47, according to a 2011 Intelligence Bureau (IB) report.
Preliminary investigations into the Sukma attack by the naxalites suggest that CPI (Maoist) leader Basava Raju, a B Tech executed the attack.
The National Investigation Agency had announced a reward of Rs 1.5 million for any information on Raju who is 67 years old. He is an expert at using the AK-47 according to an Intelligence Bureau report of 2011.
In the year 1987, Basava Raju along with Ganapathy, Mallojoula Koteshwar Rao, Malla Raju Reddy among others underwent training by LTTE cadres in the forests of Bastar in ambush tactics.
