Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, in a single announcement, changed the names and identities of up to 11 villages in the state's Shajapur district that had been associated with the Muslim community for many years to those that represented Hindu names.
On Sunday, CM Yadav addressed a massive gathering at Kalapipal in Shajapur. “When there is no (person named) Mohammad in (village) ‘Mohammadpur Machhnai’, then why retain this name of the village? It will be known as ‘Mohanpur’ from now on,” said Mohan Yadav during his address. “Why continue the name ‘Bhavna Hussainpur’ for a village that has no Hussain or Muslim in it? From today, it will be called ‘Bhavna Ram’ village,” added the CM.
The name of the villages have been changed in accordance with the opinions of the locals and the requests of the local public leaders, according to CM Dr. Yadav. “When people raised concerns that certain names were displeasing, I felt it was my responsibility to change them,” the CM stated. "Ghatti Mukhtiyarpur" to "Ghatti," "Hajipur" to "Heerapur," "Shekhpur Gondi" to "Awadhpuri," "Khalilpur" to "Rampur," "Nipaniya Hisamuddin" to "Nipaniya Dev," "Dhabla Hussainpur" to "Dhabla Ram," "Mohammadpur Pawadiya" to "Rampur Pawadiya," "Khajuri Allahabad" to "Khajuri Ram," and "Richdi Muradabad" to "Richdi" village are the other nine villages that the chief minister renamed.
Similarly, a week ago, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that three of the villages in his native Ujjain district will also have their names altered. Speaking at a gathering following the opening of the "CM Rise School" facility at Badnagar, Ujjain district, on January 5, the CM declared, “The ‘Gajnikhedi Panchayat’ will now be named as ‘Chamunda Mata village’. Similarly, ‘Jahangirpur’ will now be known as ‘Jagdishpur’ and ‘Maulana village’ will be known as ‘Vikram Nagar’.” The Chief Minister had stated that the names of villages and towns would be changed based on the sentiments of the public. In just one week, the MP Chief Minister has changed the names of 14 villages with Muslim associations to Hindu names.
