Modi government 3.0: BJP allies get 11 ministerial berths; TDP, JDU bag 2 each

On Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government announced the portfolios assigned to ministers, a day after their swearing-in ceremony at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The new council of ministers comprises 30 Cabinet ministers, 36 Ministers of State (MoS), and five MoS with independent charge, all of whom took the oath of office.
In Modi 3.0, Amit Shah has retained the Ministry of Home Affairs, while Rajnath Singh retains the Defence Ministry. Nitin Gadkari also continues to hold the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Ministry of External Affairs went to S Jaishankar, Road Transport to Nitin Gadkari, and Finance to Nirmala Sitharaman. This time, BJP chief JP Naddahas also been included in the cabinet as the Union Health Minister. Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Panchayati Raj.
Meanwhile, PM Modi has also taken charge of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy and the Department of Space, overseeing crucial policy issues and all other portfolios not assigned to any minister.
The Telugu Desam Party, a significant member of the National Democratic Alliance, secured the Union Civil Aviation ministry, with Ram Mohan Naidu appointed as its head. Another crucial NDA ally, the Janata Dal (United), obtained the Panchayati Raj ministry and Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, with Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, leading the helm.
Manohar Lal Khattar has been assigned the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Power portfolios. HD Kumaraswamy is the Minister of Heavy Industries and the Minister of Steel. PiyushGoyal is the Minister of Commerce and Industry. Dharmendra Pradhan has been assigned the Education Ministry. Jitan Ram Manjhi has been appointed as the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Sarbananda Sonowal is in charge of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. Virendra Kumar has been assigned the Ministry of Social Justice. Pralhad Joshi is the Minister of Consumer Affairs. Jual Oram holds the Ministry of Tribal Affairs portfolio. Giriraj Singh has been appointed as the Minister of Textiles. AshwiniVaishnaw has been appointed as the Minister of Railways and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Jyotiraditya Scindia is responsible for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and Telecom. Bhupendra Yadav takes on the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat heads the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism. Annapurna Devi has been assigned the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Kiren Rijiju is the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and the Minister of Minority Affairs. Hardeep Singh Puri has been appointed as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Mansukh Mandaviya is appointed as the Minister of Labour and Employment and the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. G KishanReddy has been given the charge of the Ministry of Coal and Mines. Chirag Paswan is the Minister of Food Processing Industries. CR Patil has been appointed as the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
In terms of Minister of State (Independent Charge):
Rao Inderjeet Singh heads the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the Ministry of Planning, and the Ministry of Culture. Dr JitendraSingh is responsible for the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Earth Sciences, and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. Arjun Ram Meghwal serves as the Minister of Law and Justice and the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. Jadhav Pratap Rao is in charge of the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Jayant Chaudhary heads the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Ministry of Education.
As for Minister of State (MoS):
Jitin Prasad is assigned to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Shripad Yesso Naik takes on the Power Ministry. Pankaj Chaudhary is appointed to the Ministry of Finance. Krishan Pal heads the Ministry of Cooperation. Ramdas Athawale oversees the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Ramnath Thakur takes charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Nityanand Rai serves in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Anupriya Patel is responsible for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. V Somanna is assigned to the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Railways Ministry. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani oversees the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Communications. SP Singh Baghel heads the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Sobha Karandlaje takes charge of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Kirti Vardhan Singh is assigned to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and the Ministry of External Affairs. BL Verma oversees the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Shantanu Thakur heads the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. Suresh Gopi takes charge of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and serves as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism. L Murugan is responsible for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Ajay Tamta is appointed to the Ministry for Road Transport & Highways. Bandi Sanjay Kumar serves in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Kamlesh Paswan oversees the Ministry of Rural Development. Bhagirath Choudhary heads the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Satish Chandra Dubey is assigned to the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines. Sanjay Seth oversees the Ministry of Defence. Ravneet Singh Bittu takes charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and the Ministry of Railways. Durga Das Uikey heads the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Raksha Nikhil Khadse is responsible for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Sukanta Majumdar serves in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region. Savitri Thakur is assigned to the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Tokhan Sahu is appointed to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Murlidhar Mohol overseas the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. George Kurian takes charge of the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying. Pabitra Margherita is assigned to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Textiles.
