An acclaimed Malayalam director has announced his intention of leaving Islam in protest against those who celebrated the fatal death of the CDS General Bipin Rawat. On his Facebook page, Ali Akbar revealed that he and his family would no longer adhere to any faith.
The video posted by Ali Akbar criticizes the Islamists who mocked the death of CDS Bipin Rawat. After receiving hateful comments on the video, Akbar's account was suspended for a month. Following the suspension, the director opened a new account and announced that he had left Islam.
Akbar said, “Within five minutes of speaking out against those who put up emojis, the account was blocked. I cannot accept it, I cannot agree with it, so I’m leaving my religion. I or my family no longer have a religion. That is the decision.”
Further, Ali Akbar announced he had changed his name to Ram Singh. “Ramasimhan is a person who was killed while sticking to the culture of Kerala. Tomorrow Ali Akbar will be called Ram Singh. That’s the best name,” he said. In 1947, Ramasimhan, his wife, and five children were killed by Islamic extremists, after they converted to Hinduism from Islam.
Two weeks before independence, Ramasimhan, Dayasimhan, Dayasimhan's wife Kamala, their cook Raju Iyer and other members of the family were brutally murdered by Islamist Jihadists in Malaparamba, Malappuram district.
According to Ali Akbar, he decided to quit Islam after consulting his wife about the matter. He said, "I am throwing away the dress I was born in”. A picture with the names of those who mocked the passing of CDS Bipin Rawat was also posted by Akbar on his Facebook page.
According to Ali Akbar, in an interview with Janam TV he explained why he is protesting against the anti-national elements. A Facebook video by Ali Akbar, who observed the celebration of the Islamists online, had raised his objections. An actor who won a national award then announced his departure from Islam.
Ali Akbar was earlier the state committee member of the BJP and quit the position following disagreements with the party leadership.
