Mahagathbandhan promises one government per family, Rahul Gandhi skips joint manifesto release
The Mahagathbandhan alliance on Tuesday released its manifesto for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, making a strong promise to bring jobs, stability, and hope to every family in the state.
The manifesto was unveiled by the alliance leaders, including Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Chief Ministerial candidate, and Congress leader Pawan Khera.
At the centre of the manifesto is a major assurance that one member from every family in Bihar will be given a government job. The document states that this promise will be fulfilled within 20 days of the government taking charge, turning Tejashwi Yadav’s biggest campaign pledge into an official commitment.
The manifesto also promises that Jeevika Didis, who has been working for years under various schemes, will be given permanent status as a government employee.
Other key commitments include making all contractual and outsourced workers permanent and restoring the Old Pension Scheme for state employees.
Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, did not attend the launch event.
Speaking at the launch, Pawan Khera said that the Mahagathbandhan had taken the lead by announcing both its chief ministerial candidate and its manifesto first.
"This shows who is serious about Bihar. We decided from day one what we would do for Bihar. We have to get Bihar back on track. Today is a very auspicious day as the state of Bihar was waiting for this 'pran patra'," he said.
Vikassheel Insaan Party chief and Mahagathbandhan’s Deputy Chief Minister face Mukesh Sahani, also expressed confidence about the alliance’s future. He said, "...Today we have launched the Sankalp Patra for a new Bihar...For the next 30-35 years, we will work for the service of the people of Bihar. We will fulfil all the public's aspirations. We will complete all the promises made to the public."
Sahani added that people across Bihar are standing firmly with the Mahagathbandhan and criticised the National Democratic Alliance for still not releasing its manifesto.
"We are forming the government in Bihar. On the other hand, the NDA has no 'Sankalp'," he added.
