Terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) provided VIP treatment to Hamas representatives who attended an "anti-India" conference in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). Video that went viral on social media shows Hamas leaders arriving in opulent SUVs at Rawalakote's Shaheed Sabir Stadium, flanked by Lashkar and Jaish militants on horses and motorcycles.
In another video, terrorists from Jaish and Lashkar can be seen holding rallies on motorcycles and horses while waving the flag of the Palestinian terrorist organization. This is the first time the outfit has been at an event in POK. The terrorists from the Hamas organisation were greeted with petals during their arrival for the "Kashmir Solidarity and Hamas Operation 'Al Aqsa Flood' Conference". The conference took place on February 5, a day Pakistan observes as Kashmir Solidarity Day—a propaganda exercise to voice its anti-India agenda. The event was attended by senior terrorist leaders, including Talha Saif, the brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, and Jaish commander Asghar Khan Kashmiri.
Meanwhile, the Hamas delegation was led by Dr. Khalid Al-Qadoumi, the group's representative in Iran. Hamas, which has mostly focused its activities in the Middle East, attending an event in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) suggests that the group is trying to broaden its influence and strengthen ties with terrorist organizations based in Pakistan. Hamas leaders have previously spoken about alleged human rights violations in Kashmir. Intelligence reports have also warned about the group's links with radical elements in South Asia. Meanwhile, Pakistan invited leaders of terrorist groups to an event, but its Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, stated that he wanted to resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue—showing a contradictory stance. India has always asserted that Kashmir is an inseparable part of the country.
Additionally, Hamas spokesman Khalid Al-Qadoumi met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), a hardline Islamic fundamentalist party in Pakistan. The JUI, now in the Opposition, was previously part of an anti-PTI coalition led by Nawaz Sharif's Muslim League, which opposed Imran Khan and his party before they were removed from power. According to a report by Karachi-based The News International, JUI is Pakistan's largest religio-political party and has the most significant street influence. The participation of these terror groups in the conference hosted by Pakistan's government confirms that the country continues to support extremism, despite consistently denying such involvement worldwide. Hamas' presence at the event also highlights the connection between Pakistan-backed terrorists and international terror networks. Hamas has been actively engaged in conflict with Israel in the Middle East for over a year.
