A Mathura court on Saturday passed an order in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah case to survey the disputed site.
Civil Judge Senior Division (III) Sonika Verma was hearing the petition filed on May 9, by the Hindu Sena seeking the removal of the Shahi Idgah Mosque, which they claimed was constructed at the birthplace of Lord Krishna, within the 13.37-acre land that belonged to the Hindu deity Lord Shri Krishna Virajman.
On December 8, national president of Hindu Sena Vishnu Gupta and vice president Surjit Singh Yadav, residents of Delhi, had claimed in the court that the Idgah was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb by demolishing the temple on 13.37 acres of land of Lord Krishna’s birthplace.
The petitioner was demanding the survey of the disputed site claiming that disfigurement or removal of temple signs are present in the mosque.
The petition also challenged the agreement made in the year 1968 between Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh vs Shahi Masjid Idgah.
The Mathura court passed an order allowing the survey of the disputed site and submission of the survey report along with the map to the court by January 20, 2023. Notably, this is on the same lines as the court ordered in the Gyanvapi case in Varanasi.
