The Delhi Assembly elections have concluded, with voting for all 70 constituencies taking place smoothly on February 5. The final results are scheduled to be declared on Saturday, February Several exit polls have projected a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), suggesting that it is poised to form the next government in the national capital.
In response to these exit poll predictions, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has spoken out for the first time, strongly questioning their accuracy. Posting on X, Kejriwal also took an indirect dig at the BJP, alleging that the party was attempting to lure AAP candidates into switching sides. His claims were backed by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh, who reiterated similar concerns.
"Some agencies are showing that the ‘abusive party’ (referring to BJP) is winning over 55 seats. In the past two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls offering them ministerial positions and Rs 15 crore each if they leave AAP and join their party. If they are truly winning over 55 seats, why do they need to lure our candidates? Clearly, these fake surveys have been conducted to create an atmosphere for poaching MLAs. But let me make it clear—none of our people will break," Kejriwal posted.
Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva strongly responded to Arvind Kejriwal’s accusations, issuing a firm warning to AAP leader Sanjay Singh. He demanded that Singh withdraw his claims against the BJP and publicly apologise. Failing to do so, Sachdeva cautioned, could result in legal action against him.
"Sanjay Singh should remember that their Chief Minister, Ms Atishi Marlena, is out on bail in a similar case involving false allegations of offering money to legislators. Sanjay Singh's accusation that the BJP is trying to lure AAP's MLA candidates with inducements is a result of his desperation," Sachdevafurther said.
Meanwhile, exit polls have largely indicated an advantage for the BJP over the incumbent AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections. At the same time, the Congress is not expected to make any significant gains. On Thursday, surveys conducted by Axis My India and CNX also predicted a substantial lead for the BJP.
According to the Axis My India exit poll projections, the BJP is expected to secure between 45 and 55 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP is predicted to win between 15 and 25 seats, while the Congress may manage just 0 to 1 seat. Other parties are also estimated to get between 0 and 1 seat.
Meanwhile, the CNX exit poll presents a slightly different prediction, suggesting that the BJP could win between 49 and 61 seats. AAP’s projected seat count is lower, ranging from 10 to 19. The Congress is once again estimated to get no more than 1 seat, while no seats are expected to go to other parties.
