Karni Sena is planning a large public meeting in Agra on Saturday to celebrate the birth anniversary of the 16th-century Rajput ruler Rana Sanga. The event, themed ‘Kshatriya Samman,’ will also be a platform to strongly respond to the recent controversial remarks made by Samajwadi Party MP Ramjilal Suman in Parliament. Nearly 50,000 square meters of agricultural land has been cleared to accommodate the expected crowd. Reports suggest that attendees have been instructed to bring flags and sticks to the event.
The Agra Police have approved the event, which the Sanatan Hindu Mahasabha is organising. To ensure safety, security measures have been stepped up throughout the city, with a three-tier security plan in place to prevent potential disruptions. Additionally, the police have issued alerts at the homes of individuals who previously made provocative statements about Rana Sanga on social media. On Thursday, Karni Sena and the Kshatriya community members held a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony in Rami Garhi village as part of their spiritual and cultural preparations for the upcoming event.
The rally occurred just weeks after a controversy sparked by remarks made by SP MP Ramjilal Suman during a recent parliamentary session. He had stated, “If Muslims have Babur’s DNA, then whose DNA is in Hindus? Who brought Babur? Babur was brought to India by Rana Sanga to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.”
His remarks caused widespread anger within the Rajput community, with BJP leaders Karni Sena and several Hindu organisations accusing Suman of insulting Rajput pride and hurting Hindu sentiments. Although Suman later explained that his comments were based on historical facts and were not meant to offend anyone, the controversy grew. In retaliation, angry members of Karni Sena attacked the MP’s house in Agra. The protests against MP Ramjilal Suman have now spread beyond Uttar Pradesh. In Udaipur, members of the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena held a demonstration, shouting slogans and torching an effigy of the MP.
Arjun Singh Chundawat, who leads the Karni Sena's Udaipur unit, announced a reward of ₹5.51 lakh for anyone who could chop off the MP’s tongue. This provocative statement has further escalated tensions. The Karni Sena argues that Suman’s comments insult the memory of Rana Sanga, widely respected as a symbol of Rajput's bravery and resistance.
