As per reports, Karnataka is gearing up to establish five cutting-edge satellite towns on the outskirts of Bengaluru, aiming to relieve the mounting development pressure on the state capital. Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed has reportedly instructed the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) to prepare a comprehensive project report outlining the construction of upscale villas encircling the city's periphery.
During a review meeting with officials from the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) on June 7, Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed announced that each of the proposed satellite towns outside Bengaluru will feature 1,000 villas spread across 500 acres of land. The minister emphasized that these towns should be nestled amidst natural surroundings, ensuring a harmonious blend of modern living and nature.
The overall plan entails the development of satellite towns covering a total area of 2,000 acres. Once completed, these towns will collectively accommodate approximately 1.50 lakh sites and 25,000 houses, as stated by the minister.
Addressing the rationale behind this initiative, Ahmed highlighted Bengaluru's international acclaim, which has led to an increased demand for villas on the outskirts of the city, particularly among foreign industrialists and VVIPs. Consequently, he stressed the urgency of identifying suitable land for these projects at the earliest.
As per the proposal, the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) plans to implement the project through a 50:50 partnership with landowners. This approach aims to alleviate the burden of land acquisition costs on the KHB, according to sources.
In addition to this development, the KHB is reportedly working on a separate township spanning 2,000 acres adjacent to Mysore Road in the southwestern part of Bengaluru. The proposed township, located near BGS International School, is anticipated to accommodate over 10,000 residential units.
Furthermore, the department has revealed plans for another township, spanning 1,000 acres, which is in the pipeline for 2023. This upcoming project is expected to be located near Bannerghatta National Park.
These initiatives reflect the efforts of the KHB to address the growing demand for housing and urban infrastructure in Bengaluru, while also exploring collaborative partnerships and strategic locations for future developments.
