Karachi is currently grappling with a concerning trend as 22 unidentified bodies have been discovered across various parts of the city, as reported by Geo News. The situation escalated with the discovery of five additional bodies, raising alarms about these unexplained deaths.
According to the Chhipa Welfare Association, a non-profit organisation in Pakistan, three of the recent victims were suspected to be drug addicts. Despite efforts by volunteers, none of the 22 bodies have been identified so far.
"A spokesperson for the Chhipa Welfare Association stated on Tuesday that volunteers found five more bodies in different areas of Karachi. Three of them appeared to be drug addicts, but none have been identified," the statement read.
These deaths have been linked to an ongoing heatwave in the port city, which has affected a significant number of residents, resulting in many hospitalisations due to heatstroke.
In Karachi, an official from the Edhi Foundation, Azeem Khan, informed The News that the majority of the deceased found in various parts of the city were drug addicts who succumbed to severe heat while under the influence of drugs. This revelation came after more than a dozen unidentified bodies were discovered.
Meanwhile, according to a report by ARY News, a senior citizen in Karachi was viciously assaulted by a group of drug users after confronting them for openly using drugs outside his residence.
Details reveal that the victim intervened to halt the youths from engaging in drug activity in front of his residence, which provoked them into committing severe violence against the elderly man.
