Kadet Defence Systems (KDS) has achieved a significant milestone in bolstering India's defence capabilities by pioneering the development of India's first Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAM). Through a distinctive Development cum Production Partner (DCPP) arrangement with the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), KDS has introduced a suite of advanced technologies aimed at improving the operational effectiveness of the Indian armed forces.
The LAM Systems, achieved through continuous innovation and strategic collaboration, comprise a wide array of advanced technologies. These include Canister Aerial Loitering Munition (CALM), Combat UAVs equipped with stand-off capabilities for munition release, and Tactical VTOL UAVs. Kadet's LAMs mark a significant shift in modern warfare tactics.
With a contract secured for the delivery of more than 50 systems by the conclusion of 2024, KDS is ready to fulfill the changing operational needs of the armed forces with accuracy and effectiveness.
Kadet Defence Systems' Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAMs) stand out not only for their technological advancements but also for their versatility across different terrains and environments. These systems are designed to operate effectively in diverse landscapes, including deserts, plains, and high-altitude regions exceeding 5,000 meters, ensuring comprehensive defence coverage.
Moreover, with over 90% of their components sourced locally, Kadet demonstrates a commitment to promoting indigenous innovation and self-reliance in defence production.
Avdhesh Khaitan, Co-Founder & CEO of Kadet Defence Systems, highlighted the strategic importance of domestically developed LAMs, emphasising that true self-reliance in defence lies in the capability to create cutting-edge solutions within the country. He noted the growing demand for LAMs, not only for strengthening the armed forces but also for enhancing ties with friendly nations.
With plans to increase production and deliver around five thousand systems within the next 2-3 years, Kadet reaffirms its dedication to meeting the evolving requirements of the defence sector.
Kadet Defence Systems' Loitering Aerial Munitions (LAMs) provide versatile capabilities, functioning as both combat UAVs capable of precise strikes and Kamikaze drones for targeted engagements, reminiscent of cruise missiles. With the market size of LAMs in India estimated to be around Rs. 15,000 crores, Kadet is well-positioned to leverage the growing demand for advanced defence solutions.
Founded in 2011, Kadet Defence Systems has emerged as a leader in the aerospace industry, focusing on Unmanned Systems. Based in Bengaluru, India, the company operates globally, offering a wide range of UAVs catering to defence and industrial sectors.
As India progresses towards self-reliance in defence production, Kadet's innovative efforts serve as a testament to the nation's prowess in innovation and technological advancement.
