Jammu and Kashmir Police have confiscated the immovable properties of five Hizbul Mujahideen operatives in the Gool area of Ramban district, according to an official spokesperson.
The five militants named Saraj Din (48) from Sangaldan, Reyaz Ahmed (45) from Dalwah, Farooq Ahmed (46) from Banj Bhimdassa, and Mohd Ashraf (50) and Mushtaq Ahmed (47) from Moila—have relocated to Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir and are currently operating from there, police officials stated.
According to a police spokesperson, intelligence reports indicate that they were attempting to sell these properties to finance militant activities and recruit young people into terrorism. “The seizure sends a strong message to terrorists operating from PoK that their attempts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will not be tolerated,” the spokesperson further said.
Police reported that five terrorists crossed into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for weapons training and to engage in militant activities in India.
A sub-divisional police officer in Gool issued an order restricting the sale, lease or any transaction of their properties without prior approval from the Jammu and Kashmir Police or relevant authorities.
Authorities stated that the families of these individuals would now face legal and financial restrictions, preventing them from indirectly supporting militant activities.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has been actively cracking down on terror financing, overground worker (OGW) networks, and exfiltrated terrorists, which has significantly weakened the terror infrastructure in recent years, according to a police spokesperson.
“The action aligns with the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism,” he stated, emphasising that it will sever a potential source of terror funding that could have been used to restore Hizbul Mujahideen’s influence in the region.
