J&K government transfers 17 IPS, 96 police officers in major union territory-wide reshuffle move

In a significant reshuffle on Thursday night, the Jammu and Kashmir government transferred 17 IPS officers and 96 officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service across the Union Territory. The changes impact various departments, including field assignments, special security units, and forensic divisions. While a large number of officers were shifted in November, this marks the first significant reorganisation of the police force since Nalin Prabhat took over as the Director General of Police last October.
Among the key appointments, 2002 batch IPS officer Uttam Chand, who had been waiting for a new posting, has been appointed as IGP (Police Operations and Services) at Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, Sarah Rizvi, who was serving as DIG IR Jammu, will now take over as DIG Udhampur-Reasi range, replacing Rayees Mohammad Bhat, who has been reassigned as DIG CID Kashmir.
Sheikh Junaid Mehmood has been appointed DIG IR Kashmir, while Umesh Kumar has been assigned the role of DIG Training at Police Headquarters, filling existing vacancies.
In other postings, Raghav S. has taken over as SP Tech at CID Headquarters, replacing Amritpal Singh and appointed SSP Anantnag. G V Sundeep Chakravarthy, previously holding that position, has now been posted as SSP Srinagar.
J S Johar has been appointed as the in-charge Director of Police Telecommunication, while Sanjeev Kumar Yadav will serve as Staff Officer to the IGP of Technical Services. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat has taken charge as the SSP of Traffic City Srinagar, and Ranjit Singh Sambyal has been named Principal of the Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in Vijaypur. Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria has been assigned as the Commandant of the Jammu & Kashmir Armed Police 1st Border Battalion. Divya D has been posted as SP at the State Investigation Agency (SIA) in Kashmir and Tanushree is being transferred to the SIA Headquarters in Kashmir. Bisma Qazi will now lead the JKAP’s Second Women Battalion as Commandant, and Hareesh HP has been appointed AIG (Welfare) at Police Headquarters.
As part of a recent reshuffle involving 96 JKPS officers, the government has assigned new roles to several officials. Suhail Munawar Mir has been appointed Commissioner for Civil Military Liaison, while Ramesh Kumar Angral will now serve as the Director of Kashmir Home Guards. Mohammad Arshad takes over as Director of Home Guards in Jammu, and Tahir Sajad Bhat has been named Additional Director of the SIA. Imtiyaz Hussain Mir has been appointed Director of Civil Defence and SDRF in Kashmir, and Mohammad Arif Rishu is now the Principal of the State Training Centre (STC) in Talwara. Other notable postings include Abdul Waheed Shah, who becomes SSP of the Economic Offences Wing in Srinagar; Shamsher Hussain, who has been made Staff Officer to the IGP of Jammu Zone; Ashok Kumar Sharma, now Commandant of the 4th (Security) Battalion of JKAP; and Atul Sharma, appointed as Commandant of the 19th Battalion IR.
