According to reports, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly criticized the Congress-led government in Karnataka regarding the heinous murder of Jain monk Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj in Belagavi. The VHP has attributed the crime to what they perceive as the government's "anti-Hindu" policies. It is reported that the Digambar Jain monk was murdered due to a dispute related to money.
Two individuals, including a devotee of the victim, have been arrested in connection with the case. The disturbing incident came to light on Saturday, two days after the monk was reported missing by the ashram manager where he resided. Authorities discovered the mutilated body parts of the monk, which had been discarded in an unused borewell by the accused.
In response to the incident, the VHP has demanded that those responsible for the killing face capital punishment. VHP's general secretary, Milind Parande, referred to the accused as "jihadis" in a statement, expressing concern that sadhus and seers are currently at risk in the state, while "Islamic jihadis and extremists" enjoy the freedom to roam.
As per reports, the police have identified the two individuals arrested in the case as Narayana Basappa Madi and Hassan Dalayath. It is believed that the crime was committed as a result of their inability to repay a loan of ₹6 lakhs, which had been borrowed from the Jain muni.
“The abduction of venerable Jain Acharya, who taught the lesson of non-violence to the world, and then the chopping of his holy body by Jihadis seems somehow to be the result of the anti-Hindu policies of the Congress-led government in the state,” Parande said.
“Ever since the ministers of the new government in the state have been talking about removing the anti-cow slaughter law and the anti-conversion law, the audacity of the 'dharma-drohi' (anti-religion) and anti-national forces has increased. Due to the anti-Hindu policies of the government, neither the sadhus nor the Bharatiya society is safe in the state today. If anyone is enjoying the liberty of roaming free in the state, they are Islamic Jihadis and extremists,” he added.
