Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Rahul Gandhi's recent remark during a public rally in Uttarakhand, where he stated that if the BJP were elected for the third time, India would be set on fire.
PM Modi criticised Rahul Gandhi's recent comment during a public rally in Uttarakhand. Gandhi had remarked, "If the BJP were elected for the third time, India would be set on fire." PM Modi questioned the appropriateness of such language in democratic discourse, highlighting the responsibility of political leaders to uphold civil dialogue. He emphasised the need for accountability for those who propagate such inflammatory rhetoric.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of aiming to lead India towards instability, stating that "Congress and its Emergency mentality" are not trusted in democracy.
During the Opposition's Ramlila Maidan rally on March 31, Gandhi accused PM Modi of manipulating the election and imprisoning two chief ministers ahead of the polls. "If the BJP wins these rigged elections and amends the Constitution, it will ignite the country. Keep this in mind," Rahul Gandhi stated.
The PM accused the Congress of inciting people against the public mandate, citing a statement made by Karnataka Congress leader DK Suresh about dividing India into North and South. "A prominent Congress leader suggested dividing the country into North and South. Shouldn't such an individual be held accountable? Despite this, the Congress awarded him an election ticket... Uttarakhand will not overlook the fact that the Congress even disrespected Bipin Rawat," stated the PM without directly naming Suresh.
In reference to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the PM assured refugees of his support, regardless of the opposition from Congress. "The Congress's division of the country meant that we had to view Guru Nanak's Gurudwara through binoculars for years. The BJP initiated the Kartarpur corridor. If Congress hadn't shown weakness, nobody would have dared to challenge our borders. Another recent example is how the Congress surrendered Kachchatheevu Island to Sri Lanka. Can the Congress safeguard the country?" PM Modi stated.
The BJP currently holds all five Lok Sabha seats in the state. Following the PM's visit, BJP president JP Nadda is scheduled to visit on April 3.
