On Friday, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), underscored the significance of implementing "positive measures" to address the escalating tensions and cross-border incursions between Pakistan and Iran. This statement was reported by ARY News.
While interacting with journalists in Dera Ismail Khan, the leader of JUI-F voiced concern about the "unprovoked airspace violation." He emphasized that, before taking such "drastic action," Iran should have engaged with Pakistan and communicated regarding the matter.
He said, "Iran should have sought assistance from Pakistan instead of taking action unilaterally."
He described Pakistan's retaliation as "reciprocal," asserting that Islamabad was entitled to respond because Iran was the one who started the war, as reported by ARY News.
Within less than 48 hours following Iran's violation of Pakistan's airspace, Pakistan launched strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in the Sistan-Baluchistan province of Iran.
"Hideouts used by terrorist organisations, namely the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF)," were hit in an intelligence-based operation dubbed "Marg Bar Sarmachar," ARY News cited a statement released by the Pakistan military's media affairs division.
Pakistan condemned the violation of its sovereignty as "completely unacceptable" and, on Wednesday, took diplomatic action by expelling the Iranian ambassador and recalling its envoy from Iran.
During a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Pakistan's caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, emphasized that the attack carried out by Iran on January 16 within Pakistani territory not only constituted a significant breach of Pakistan's sovereignty but also amounted to a serious violation of international law and the mutual understanding between the two nations.
Jilani expressed Pakistan's unequivocal condemnation of the attack and also stated that the act has severely harmed the two countries' bilateral relations.
