Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has delivered a sharp warning to the United States over its growing military presence in the Middle East, stating that Tehran is closely monitoring every move in the region. His remarks come at a time when tensions remain high and conflicting narratives are emerging from both sides regarding the possibility of negotiations.
In a post shared on X, Ghalibaf said, "We are closely monitoring all US movements in the region, especially troop deployments." He also suggested that American soldiers could end up suffering because of decisions taken by their leadership. Referring to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he added, "What the generals have broken, the soldiers can't fix; instead, they will fall victim to Netanyahu's delusions."
Reaffirming Iran’s stance on protecting its sovereignty, Ghalibaf issued a direct warning against any provocation. He said, "Do not test our resolve to defend our land." His strong words come amid reports that the United States is preparing to increase its military presence in the region, raising concerns of further escalation.
Despite these developments, US President Donald Trump has maintained that talks with Iran are ongoing and that the conflict could soon come to an end. However, reports suggest a different reality on the ground. According to Pentagon plans cited by CBS News, the US is expected to deploy troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East as the war enters its fourth week.
The report indicates that the deployment may include a command unit along with some ground forces, with the total number of troops likely to be fewer than 1,500. This planned movement highlights a clear contrast between the White House’s diplomatic messaging and the military’s operational steps in the region.
President Trump, while speaking earlier, expressed confidence in America’s position in the conflict. He said, "We're in negotiations right now. I can tell you, they'd like to make a deal and who wouldn't if you were there? Look, their navy's gone, their air force is gone, their communications are gone. pretty much everything they have is gone." He further added, "I think we are going to end it. I cannot tell you for sure. We have won this... We literally have planes flying over Tehran and other parts of their country. They can't do a thing about it. For instance, if I want to take down that power plant, they can't do a thing about it... They are totally defeated... Militarily, they are dead."
Iran, however, has strongly rejected these claims and presented a very different picture of the situation. In a video released by Fars News, an Iranian military spokesperson mocked the US stance and suggested that Washington is not negotiating with Iran but with itself. The spokesperson said, "The strategic power you used to boast about has now turned into a strategic defeat... Do not label your defeat as an 'agreement.' The era of your promises has come to an end."
The spokesperson further claimed that the global situation is now divided between "Truth and Falsehood" and warned that people across the world would not be misled by media narratives. He said, "no freedom-seeking truth-seeker will be deceived by your media waves." He also pointed to long-term consequences for the region, stating, "There will be no more talk of your investments in the region, nor will you ever see the former prices of energy and oil again, until you understand that stability in this region is guaranteed only by the powerful hand of our armed forces."
Adding to the rising tensions, Iran released visuals showing the 80th wave of Operation True Promise 4. The footage showed missiles being launched towards US-Israeli positions in the region. This development comes even as the US continues to speak about a possible negotiated settlement.
Tehran has clearly denied any ongoing talks with Washington and has maintained that peace can only be achieved if the joint US-Israel military campaign is stopped. The gap between the two sides remains wide, with both continuing to project completely different versions of the conflict.
