Iran's deputy defense minister has informed the Tasnim news agency that the nation has concluded preparations for receiving Russian-made Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and helicopters. This development underscores the deepening military collaboration between Tehran and Moscow.

Notably, Iran's air force, currently equipped with a limited fleet comprising only a few dozen strike aircraft, features a mix of Russian jets and aging U.S. models acquired prior to the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The acquisition of advanced Russian aircraft signifies a strategic move to enhance Iran's air capabilities amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.

Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Mahdi Farahi has affirmed intentions to integrate Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters, and Yak-130 jet trainers into the operational units of the Iranian Armed Forces. He said, "Plans have been finalised for Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters, and Yak-130 jet trainers to join the combat units of Iran's Army."

In an interview with Iran's Tasnim News Agency, General Farahi confirmed that the procurement processes for these advanced military aircraft are actively in progress. This ensures the seamless integration of Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters, and Yak-130 jet trainers into Iran's defense arsenal. This strategic enhancement is anticipated to significantly bolster Iran's aerial combat readiness.

Amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Iran and Russia have established collaborative connections across multiple sectors, encompassing economic, trade, energy, and military cooperation. This collaborative effort has led to substantial partnerships, highlighted by the recent supply of Yak-130 jet trainers to the Iranian Air Force.

The addition of the Yakovlev Yak-130 into Iran's fleet represents a significant advancement in bolstering the training capabilities of Iranian military pilots.
