Two jawans injured in encounter at Kanker-Narayanpur border, five Naxal bodies recovered

Two jawans sustained injuries during an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in the dense Abujhmadh jungle, situated along the Kanker-Narayanpur border in Chhattisgarh. Both injured personnel were airlifted to a hospital in Raipur for medical treatment.
Bastar Inspector General (IG) P Sundarraj confirmed the recovery of five Naxalite bodies from the encounter site. A significant cache of weapons has also been seized. Reports suggest that the exchange of fire is still ongoing as security forces continue their operation.
According to Chhattisgarh Police, the operation was initiated during a search conducted by security forces on Friday night. The police had earlier informed about the exchange of fire on Saturday, stating, “Exchange of fire underway between Security forces and naxals in the jungle of Abujhmadh at Kanker Narayanpur Border.”
Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao commented on the ongoing operation, reiterating the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism in the region. Speaking to ANI, he said, “As per the promise, the double-engine government is taking strong steps for making Bastar Naxal-free. Our security forces are going to remote areas and fighting the Naxalites… We are moving Bastar towards development by gradually making it Naxal-free.”
This encounter is considered a significant operation aimed at neutralising Naxal groups in the region.
In a separate incident, security forces recovered the bodies of three Naxalites, including a platoon commander with a bounty of ₹8 lakh, following an encounter in Bijapur district on November 9. A senior police official confirmed the successful operation.These developments highlight the intensified efforts of security forces to tackle Naxal activity in Chhattisgarh.
