The Indian Army is actively conducting a specialized Women Military Officers Course designed for ASEAN countries. This significant initiative is taking place at the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) in New Delhi. It is founded on collaborative training within the United Nations (UN) framework, aligning with recent discussions held within ADMM (ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting) Plus.
Since 2017, the ADMM Plus has annually facilitated dialogue and cooperation among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its partner nations. The ongoing course underscores India's strong commitment to ASEAN countries, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to peacekeeping efforts with a focus on gender equality.
According to sources in military establishments, “the main goal of this course is to make female officers better leaders, help them think strategically, and be more effective in their jobs. It provides a platform for cross-cultural interaction and mutual professional development. Participants engage in dynamic workshops, tactical simulations, and expert lectures.”
Sources added “A big part of this course is learning from India’s experience in helping the United Nations keep the peace around the world. CUNPK, globally renowned for its training and deployment of peacekeepers across various UN missions, oversees the program. Participants are privileged to receive demonstrations of UN peacekeeping drills, gaining valuable insights into India’s rigorous standards in international peace missions.”
Participants in the program also experience cutting-edge "Made In India" vehicles and equipment, tailored for use in United Nations Missions globally as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative.
In addition to the academic and tactical components, the program immerses participants in India's vibrant cultural heritage. They actively engage in structured yoga sessions, embark on heritage tours of Delhi and Agra, and receive firsthand exposure to equipment slated for deployment in upcoming UN missions, proudly displaying the "Made in India" label.
“This special training for women military officers from ASEAN countries, held in New Delhi at CUNPK, shows how much India cares about peace and treating everyone fairly. It aims to elevate the leadership and operational capacities of female officers while fostering international cooperation,” said sources quoted above.
This distinctive initiative reflects India's commitment to ASEAN nations and highlights its role in UN peacekeeping missions. It also underscores India's dedication to self-reliance and cultural exchange. Through these collaborative endeavors, the course serves as evidence of India's leadership in advancing global peace and equality.
