The Indian YouTuber journalist Manish Kashyap, previously incarcerated by an opposition-led state in the previous year for purportedly disseminating fabricated videos, has aligned himself with the governing BJP.
Upon joining the party in the company of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, Kashyap expressed that his decision was influenced by his mother's encouragement to affiliate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party.
Kashyap explained, "Yesterday, we travelled from Bihar to Delhi with Manoj Tiwari. It was due to their assistance that I could secure my release from jail. Consequently, I have opted to join the BJP. My mother admires Narendra Modi."
Manish stated, "Only the BJP could have bestowed such recognition upon the son of a humble family...Certain parties in Bihar demand hefty bribes for membership. In contrast, the BJP values individuals regardless of their background—be it poverty, gender, or profession like mine as a YouTuber and a mother. This distinctive approach has propelled the BJP to become the largest and most capable party globally...I will continue my commitment to nationalism, despite facing accusations and imprisonment by certain parties in the past. It is the support of my mother's blessings and BJP leaders that has ensured my freedom today."
Kashyap, a prominent figure in Bihar's political landscape, hails from Bettiah in the state and goes by the real name of Tripurari Kumar Tiwari. He gained fame for his outspoken journalism, particularly for holding senior government officials accountable for their negligence.
His YouTube channel, named 'Manish Kashyap Son of Bihar', boasts over 8.75 million subscribers, showcasing his significant influence among viewers interested in Bihar's politics.
Professionally trained as an engineer, Kashyap ventured into politics and contested the 2020 elections from the Chanpatia Assembly constituency in Bihar, albeit unsuccessfully.
In March 2023, Kashyap faced arrest by the Bihar government on charges of circulating fabricated videos depicting Bihar migrants being assaulted in Tamil Nadu.
After his arrest, Kashyap was transferred to Tamil Nadu, another state ruled by the opposition. He was released from jail in December 2023. Accused of stoking tensions between Tamil Nadu and Bihar, he faced multiple charges, including under the National Security Act (NSA). Kashyap surrendered to the police after evading capture for a period.
Kashyap informed reporters that he had been granted bail and all charges against him had been cleared, including the National Security Act (NSA) being withdrawn. He affirmed his commitment to continue his fight against those who defame Sanatan.
