India and Nepal have signed 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to support community development projects in Nepal. These projects, funded by India, will receive financial assistance of 625 million Nepalese Rupees, as per an official statement.
The Indian embassy stated in a press release that agreements were signed on Tuesday to support growth in education, healthcare, and culture. "These High Impact Community Development Projects #HICDP are being built with (the) Government of India’s financial assistance at a total cost of NRs 625.00 million in Education, Health and Culture Sectors under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’," the embassy said in a post on X.
It further stated that carrying out these initiatives will "help provide better educational, healthcare and cultural facilities to the people of Nepal." The projects include building three schools, a monastery, an e-library in a school, and two health post buildings. Since 2003, India has undertaken more than 573 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal, completing 495 of them.
According to the announcement, these initiatives demonstrate the Indian government's "continued support" in supporting the Nepali government's attempts to promote the "growth and development" of its citizens by enhancing infrastructure in key areas.
