According to a recent report by intelligent data infrastructure company NetApp, India has emerged as a frontrunner in both AI adoption and innovation. The report also identifies other leading nations in AI adoption and innovation, including Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the US. However, countries such as Spain, Australia, and Germany are noted to be lagging behind in embracing this transformative technology.
Based on a survey conducted among 1,300 executives across ten countries, a recent report assesses the status of AI implementation across various industries. The findings reveal that 60 percent of companies in leading countries, including India, Singapore, the UK, and the US, have either operational AI projects or pilots. Conversely, only 36 percent of companies in lagging countries such as Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and Japan have initiated similar AI endeavours.
The report underscores disparities in the approach to AI between leading and lagging countries. Globally, 67 percent of companies in AI-leading countries report having hybrid IT environments, with India leading at 70 percent and Japan trailing at 24 percent.
Furthermore, AI leaders are more likely to experience benefits such as increased production rates (50 percent), automation of routine activities (46 percent), and enhanced customer experience (45 percent).
The report identifies IT costs and data security as significant challenges for AI adoption. However, it emphasises that these obstacles are unlikely to hinder the progress of AI.
The report concludes that the widening gap in AI adoption highlights its significant impact on global economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness. Countries at the forefront of AI integration stand to gain substantial advantages across diverse sectors, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation. Conversely, those slower to embrace AI technologies risk lagging behind in the race for technological supremacy.
Harsha Solanki, VP GM Asia at Infobip, commented on the NetApp report, emphasizing India's leadership position in AI implementation. Solanki highlighted India's strides in digital advancement, citing milestones such as UPI payments.
With initiatives like the IndiaAI mission and Make AI in India underway, India is spearheading advanced technology adoption. The country's robust digital infrastructure and widespread mobile and internet connectivity further bolster its position in the global tech landscape.
