The Consulate General of India in Hong Kong has released a guidance notice for Indian citizens intending to travel to the special administrative region for stays of fewer than 14 days.
In a statement, the Indian mission announced that nationals are required to apply for online Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR).
The Indian mission stated that Indian nationals intending to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) for a period not exceeding 14 days must apply for online PAR.
A successful Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) remains valid for duration of six months and allows for multiple visits.
According to the statement, the details provided in the PAR must precisely match those recorded in the passport. Passengers are also required to carry a printed copy of the successful PAR on a white A4-sized paper.
Moreover, Indian passengers must possess the following documents, a passport with a validity of at least six months, confirmed return or onward tickets, a confirmed hotel booking, evidence of the genuine purpose of the visit, and proof of adequate financial means.
The Consulate General of India highlighted that holding a PAR does not ensure the registrant's automatic entry into Hong Kong. It emphasized the importance of adhering to the aforementioned requirements for entry into the region.
The statement cautioned that possessing a valid PAR does not assure successful entry into the HKSAR. It highlighted instances where failure to adhere to the specified requirements led to refusal of entry by Hong Kong Immigration. This resulted in affected individuals being repatriated to their port of embarkation from India by the same airline, often causing hardships during airport waiting periods for repatriation.
"The Consulate General of India, therefore, urges Indian nationals visiting Hong Kong to adhere to the regulations set by the Government of HKSAR in this regard, to minimise the possibility of any inconvenience to themselves," it added.
