India highlights partnership and contributions to UN development programme

India highlighted its significant contribution to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) resources during an interactive dialogue at the United Nations.
Petal Gahlot, India’s First Secretary at the United Nations for the Second Committee of the UNGA, emphasised this contribution on Tuesday. She noted that UNDP served as a knowledge partner on Digital Public Infrastructure during India's G20 Presidency.
Gahlot's remarks underscored India's ongoing commitment to international development and cooperation, particularly in leveraging digital infrastructure to enhance public services and economic growth.
India underscored its collaborative efforts with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) localisation and the multidimensional poverty index in India.
Petal Gahlot, India’s First Secretary at the United Nations for the Second Committee of the UNGA, highlighted these joint initiatives during an interactive dialogue on Tuesday. She emphasised India's partnership with UNDP and the substantial contributions to its resources.
Gahlot also mentioned that UNDP served as a knowledge partner on Digital Public Infrastructure during India’s G20 Presidency. In her social media post on platform X, she stated, "Participated in an interactive dialogue today with the Administrator of @UNDP @ASteiner and highlighted India's partnership with the organisation through, India's significant contribution to UNDP resources- UNDP as a knowledge partner on DPI during India's G20 Presidency-joint work on SDG localisation and the multidimensional poverty index in India."
In April, the United Nations held its First International Conference on Digital Public Infrastructure under India's leadership.
India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, stated that the conference aimed to harness technology to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote inclusivity.
The event prominently featured India's pioneering Citizen Stack initiative, inspired by the transformative India Stack. This showcased the nation's successful integration of technology into citizen services.
The conference marked a significant step in promoting international cooperation for developing digital infrastructure globally.
The Permanent Mission of India and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in collaboration with ISPIRT, hosted the inaugural United Nations conference on Digital Public Infrastructure, Citizen Stack. This event brought together global leaders, technology innovators, and policy experts to discuss the global implementation of digital public infrastructure, according to a statement from the Permanent Mission of India to the UN.
In her opening address, Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj highlighted India's commitment to advancing global discussions on digital transformation.
G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant delivered a keynote speech titled "Advancing the Digital Frontier using Citizen Stack," emphasising the significant changes Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) has brought to governance.
The conference also showcased case studies demonstrating how components of Citizen Stack, such as the Modular Open Source Identity Platform, are aiding countries like Ethiopia and the Philippines in tailoring DPI to their specific needs and achieving digital sovereignty.
