India highlights Pakistan's dubious track record at UN General Assembly

India criticised Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly, accusing Islamabad of having a "most dubious track record" in all aspects. The criticism followed remarks made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram, which targeted India, including references to Kashmir, the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Indian Muslims.
Ruchira Kamboj, speaking at the UN General Assembly, highlighted India's commitment to peace through its rich history and philosophy of Ahimsa. She urged constructive dialogue and criticised remarks from a certain delegation, alluding to Pakistan, for lacking decorum and undermining collective efforts for peace. Kamboj called on the delegation to align with principles of respect and diplomacy.
Kamboj expressed India's concern over escalating attacks on religious sites worldwide, calling for a swift and united global response. She emphasised the need for direct discussions and international engagement to address these challenges.
India's envoy to the UN asserted that terrorism directly contradicts the culture of peace and the fundamental principles of all religions, which promote compassion, understanding, and coexistence.
She emphasised the detrimental effects of terrorism, including the promotion of discord and hostility, and the undermining of universal values of respect and harmony inherent in cultural and religious traditions globally.
The envoy highlighted the importance for member states to collaboratively foster a genuine culture of peace and to perceive the world as a unified family, aligning with India's strong belief in unity and peace.

She cited ancient Indian texts promoting harmony and compassion, shaping India's ethos. Kamboj highlighted India's cultural mosaic as a testament to tolerance, citing festivals that transcend religious boundaries.

Kamboj emphasised India's historical role as a sanctuary for persecuted faiths, noting its significance as the birthplace and stronghold of various religions. She praised Bangladesh for presenting a resolution on the follow-up to the Declaration and Program of Action, which India proudly co-sponsors. Kamboj reiterated India's commitment to humanity, democracy, and nonviolence, referencing a quote from the Bhagavad Gita that highlights empathy as a key to spiritual unity.
