India has strongly criticised Pakistan for promoting "baseless and deceitful narratives" following references to Kashmir made by Islamabad's envoy at the UN General Assembly.
"Earlier today, one delegation misused this forum to spread baseless and deceitful narratives, which is not a surprise," stated Pratik Mathur, Minister of India’s Permanent Mission to the UN. Mathur's remarks were directed at Pakistan's attempts to bring up the Kashmir issue during the session, which India views as a deliberate effort to mislead the international community.
"I will not dignify these remarks with any response, to save the valuable time of this august body," Pratik Mathur added, addressing the UN General Assembly.
Pratik Mathur was delivering India's statement during the UN General Assembly debate on the Annual Report of the UN Security Council. His sharp retort followed remarks by Pakistan’s UN envoy, Munir Akram, who made references to Kashmir from the General Assembly podium during the debate.
Mathur's response highlighted India's position on Pakistan's attempts to mislead the international community with unfounded claims about the Kashmir issue.
Pakistan consistently raises the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at various UN platforms, regardless of the subject matter or theme of the forum. Despite these efforts, Pakistan fails to garner any significant support or traction for its stance on the matter.
India has consistently dismissed Pakistan’s attempts to bring up the Kashmir issue at international forums. India asserts that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have always been, and will continue to be, integral and inalienable parts of the country.
