India commences construction of high impact community development project in Nepal's Pyuthan

India laid the foundation stone for school and hostel buildings in Nepal's Pyuthan district. The project, designated as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), is being undertaken under an agreement between India and Nepal.
The construction of Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School & Hostel Buildings in Airawati Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan district, is progressing with financial assistance from the Indian government. The project is being implemented at a tendered cost of NRs 33.92 million under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation framework.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu officially announced today that Mr. Nabil Bikram Shah, Chairman of Airawati Rural Municipality, and Shri Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, jointly laid the foundation stone for the construction of Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School & Hostel Buildings in Airawati Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan District, Nepal.
The Government of India's grant, part of 'Nepal-India Development Cooperation', is funding the construction of school and hostel buildings along with additional facilities at this school.
According to the release, Airawati Rural Municipality in Pyuthan is overseeing the implementation of this project. This initiative underscores the strong development partnership between India and Nepal.
The release further noted that the Chairman of Airawati Rural Municipality, political representatives, and Chairperson of the School Management Committee all expressed appreciation for the ongoing developmental support from the Government of India in key sectors aimed at uplifting the people of Nepal.
Political representatives, government officials, social workers, representatives of the school management, teachers, parents, and students attended the event.
The new school and hostel buildings are set to enhance education and accommodation facilities for students at Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School in Airawati Rural Municipality, Pyuthan. This development aims to create a better learning environment and contribute significantly to the region's educational advancement.
According to the official release, since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken more than 551 HICDPs in Nepal across various sectors, successfully completing 490 projects. In Lumbini Province alone, 61 projects have been initiated, including 2 in Pyuthan.
Furthermore, the Government of India has donated a total of 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions throughout Nepal. In Lumbini Province, this includes 164 ambulances and 43 school buses, with 10 ambulances specifically allocated to Pyuthan District.
The release also highlights the extensive and diverse cooperation between India and Nepal, reflecting their close neighbourly relations across multiple sectors.
