India-Bangladesh trade ties to remain strong, assures Indian envoy

Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma stated on Monday that trade and economic ties between India and Bangladesh will keep growing stronger. On the same day, the High Commission of India in Dhaka held an interactive session with key businesses and business groups from Bangladesh's textile sector.
The meeting was held in relation to Bharat Tex 2025, a global textile event that will be held from February 14–17, 2025, in New Delhi, India. The entire textile value chain will be covered during the event, which will bring together key players in the sector. The Ready-Made Garments (RMG) industry is crucial to Bangladesh's socio-economic growth and to fostering stronger supply and value chain ties between India and Bangladesh, according to High Commissioner Pranay Verma's remarks at the occasion. He highlighted the collaboration between the two countries in the Ready Made Garment (RMG) and textile sectors as an example of their mutual dependence and shared benefits.
He also expressed optimism that the large delegation from Bangladesh at Bharat Tex 2025 would create new opportunities for building supply chain connections, as well as fostering investment and technology partnerships across different parts of the textile industry. The High Commissioner expressed optimism that trade connections and economic cooperation between India and Bangladesh will keep strengthening the bond between the people and businesses of both countries. Md. Anwar Hossain, Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), along with Mr Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), were the Guests of Honour at the event.
The event's special guests Mr Md. Jashim Uddin, the chairman of Bengal Commercial Bank and vice chairman of the Bengal Group of Industries, and Faruque Hassan, the chairman of the board of trustees at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT). Industry representatives from Bangladesh are excited about their participation in Bharat Tex 2025. They believe that increased economic cooperation with India will create new opportunities for growth in Bangladesh's garment industry.
