India, South Korea conduct consultations on disarmament and Non-proliferation in Seoul

Top officials from India and South Korea engaged in discussions regarding developments in the realms of disarmament and non-proliferation, particularly concerning nuclear, chemical, and biological domains.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced that India and the Republic of Korea conducted Consultations on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation in Seoul.
The discussions encompassed developments in disarmament and non-proliferation, including nuclear, chemical, and biological domains, along with regional non-proliferation issues, outer space security matters, and conventional weapons, including AI in military applications, as well as multilateral export control regimes.
As per the statement, Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs) from the Ministry of External Affairs, led the Indian delegation, while the Korean delegation was headed by Youn Jong Kwon, Director General for Non-Proliferation and Nuclear Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Yonhap news agency, India and South Korea engaged in discussions regarding regional and global challenges to disarmament and nonproliferation. This included deliberations on North Korea's nuclear and missile programs and the enforcement of UN Security Council sanctions.
South Korea's foreign ministry stated that the two sides also shared perspectives on the challenges and opportunities presented by the emergence of security issues such as artificial intelligence and space security.
India and Japan convened the 10th round of Consultations on Disarmament, Non-Proliferation, and Export Control in Tokyo.
The Consultations on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation between India and South Korea underscore the importance both nations place on addressing global security challenges collaboratively.
As they exchange perspectives and strategies in Seoul, their commitment to fostering international peace and stability through dialogue and cooperation becomes evident.
These discussions serve as a testament to the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and contribute to broader efforts aimed at advancing disarmament and non-proliferation initiatives on the global stage.
