India and Japan engage in consultations on disarmament, non-proliferation, and export control

The Ministry of External Affairs disclosed in a press release that the 10th round of consultations between India and Japan regarding disarmament, non-proliferation, and export control took place in Tokyo on April 24, 2024.
The MEA further stated that during the consultations, both parties engaged in discussions concerning recent developments in various aspects of disarmament and non-proliferation, encompassing nuclear, chemical, and biological domains.
Additionally, they deliberated on matters pertaining to outer space security, non-proliferation issues, conventional weapons, and export control.
The press release highlighted that the Indian delegation, spearheaded by Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, engaged in the consultations.
On the other hand, the Japanese delegation, led by Katsuro Kitagawa, Director General for Disarmament, Non-proliferation, and Science Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated actively in the discussions.
The consultations between India and Japan underscored the shared commitment of both nations to address global challenges in disarmament, non-proliferation, and export control.
As strategic partners, they reaffirmed their dedication to upholding international norms and fostering stability and security in the region.
