In an important step towards India’s goal of technological self-reliance and defence indigenisation, IG Drones has received a patent for the country’s first homegrown defence drone simulator, marking a key moment in the journey towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The simulator, first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Defence Expo 2022, now stands as a powerful example of India’s independent defence capability and innovation, representing the strength and determination of Indian technology.
Entirely designed, built and produced in India, this advanced simulator offers highly realistic training for the Army, Navy, Air Force and paramilitary forces, allowing Indian soldiers to practise combat drone missions in secure settings that simulate dangerous situations such as GPS-blocked zones and coordinated multi-drone operations.
Powered by advanced artificial intelligence, physics-driven simulation engines and live terrain mapping, the simulator replaces the need for imported systems by offering a safe and cost-efficient solution developed entirely in India.
"This patent is a proud assertion of India's technology resurgence," said Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO of IG Drones. "With Prime Minister Modi's leadership, we are not merely creating products—we are creating Bharat's defence future. This Made-in-India drone simulator is a tribute to our nation's defence forces, scientists, and entrepreneurs."
Through this patent, IG Drones becomes the first Indian company to receive intellectual property rights for a drone simulator platform, an area that was previously led by foreign companies. This achievement reflects India’s increasing confidence in building top-class defence technology on its own, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Already a trusted partner of the Indian Armed Forces, IG Drones made a major contribution during Operation Sindoor by deploying India-made VTOL, FPV and kamikaze drones for vital surveillance, mapping and targeted strikes, strengthening its role as a leader in Indian defence technology.
At a time when the world is closely watching India’s progress, this patent sends a strong message about the strength of Indian talent, Indian industry and Indian ambition. It clearly tells the country’s youth, armed forces and scientists that India has the ability to build, lead and succeed through its own capabilities.
