Police in Arizona confirmed on Wednesday that multiple gunshots had reportedly been fired into Kamala Harris's campaign office. It was close to midnight when unknown shooters opened fire. Some damage was found at the Democratic National Committee office near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive in Tempe, as confirmed by the Tempe Police Department to the New York Post.
One of the public information officers, Sgt. Ryan Cook said, “No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby.”
When the authorities arrived at the campaign office, they examined the evidence at the office. Security was strengthened for both outsiders and office workers as additional precautions. When staff from the Democratic National Committee campaign office arrived at the scene following the shooting, they assumed that shots had most likely been fired through the front windows.
Gunshots being fired at the leaders have become very common in recent days in the US. Even Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, just a few months before the US presidential election. However, Ryan Routh, a 58-year-old resident of Hawaii, was taken into custody when the Secret Service team discovered him concealing himself in the compound while Trump was playing golf there.
A few days prior to the Florida incident, Trump survived a serious attempt on his life during a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump and two other people were injured when the accused, Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire during the rally. However, Crooks was killed by a sniper in a retaliatory action.
