Genrobotic Innovations Pvt Ltd, a trailblazer in robotics innovation, has inaugurated an industrial park at Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology (ICET) in Muvattupuzha. This marks the pioneering venture as the first industrial park within a private college in Kerala, aligned with the state government's 'industry on campus' initiative.
With an investment of Rs 3 crore, the facility is poised to evolve into a cutting-edge centre, fostering innovation in education and optimising the integration of AI and robotics through dedicated research endeavours.
Tom Thomas, Chief Operating Officer of Kerala Startup Mission, led the inauguration ceremony of the facility at the ICET campus on Wednesday. Other notable attendees included Abdul Salam, Director of Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology; VU Sidhique, Manager of ICET; PH Muneer, Chairman of ICET; and Nikhil NP, Director and co-founder of Genrobotic Innovations.
Genrobotics, recognised as one of the top three AI startups in India and renowned for Bandicoot, the world's first robotic scavenger, aims to transform the park into a nucleus for fostering cutting-edge technologies, nurturing visionary talent, and driving the state's economic advancement.
The facility will comprise an advanced R&D laboratory and a state-of-the-art production unit. Through this collaboration, Genrobotics intends to spearhead advanced research and development initiatives, focusing specifically on humanoid and semi-humanoid robotics, as well as AI.
Regarded as the inaugural humanoid R&D centre in the state, it will offer internships, research opportunities, and employment prospects for students both on-campus and off-campus, enabling hands-on engagement in the research, development, and commercialisation of innovative ideas in robotics and AI into viable commercial products.
Nikhil NP of Genrobotics stated, "This collaborative initiative with ICET marks a pioneering step and sets the stage for our future establishment of technology centres across colleges in Kerala. The research centre at ICET will primarily focus on academic research in humanoid robotics under Genrobotics' leadership."
Nikhil noted that this marks the first instance in India of establishing an Industrial Park to expedite and enhance the integration of AI and robotics through rigorous research. He expressed plans to replicate such parks nationwide, emphasising the vast potential of AI and robotics in addressing various societal challenges.
ICET Principal KA Navas expressed pride as an educator witnessing former students evolve into founders of a socially conscious organization utilising robotics and AI for societal benefit, especially for the underprivileged.
He highlighted the alignment of this initiative with the institution's commitment to providing holistic learning experiences, preparing students for real-world challenges. Navas emphasised the collaborative effort to foster a culture of innovation and excellence benefiting students, faculty, and the broader community.
