In a notable move to enhance bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan, General Manoj Pande, the Chief of the Army Staff, officially opened a state-of-the-art IT Laboratory at the Uzbek Academy of Armed Forces. The Army Chief is currently undertaking a visit to Uzbekistan from April 15 to April 18.
This development signifies a significant milestone in the defence collaboration between India and Uzbekistan, following a commitment established during the Defence Ministers' meeting in September 2018.
The request to establish an IT Lab was initially proposed during this high-level discussion, and the project gained momentum with approval in 2019. It is being funded through the 'c' initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs.
It has been discovered that the bids surpassed the anticipated budget of Rs 6.5 crore. Consequently, a sum of Rs 8.5 crore was allocated for the project. An Indian firm secured the contract and successfully completed the lab, making it fully operational within the specified timeframe.
The IT Laboratory boasts state-of-the-art technology, featuring nine rooms comprising two lecture halls, a cutting-edge Cybersecurity Lab, a Hardware Programming Lab, an Object-Oriented Programming Lab, a Web Programming Lab, a Server Room, a Multimedia Room, and a Virtual Reality Room.
Further amenities include video conferencing terminals, interactive panels, networking devices, and an array of computing equipment, consisting of a large number of high-end PCs, workstations, and laptops. Additionally, essential peripherals such as printers, cameras, scanners, and storage devices are provided.
This collaborative initiative represents not only a significant stride in technological advancement for Uzbekistan's defence academy but also serves as a bridge strengthening the burgeoning partnership between the two nations. It holds the promise of future cooperation in defence and technology.
The establishment of the IT lab is anticipated to enhance the training resources accessible to the Uzbek armed forces and nurture a deeper understanding and cooperation between India and Uzbekistan in the future.
